The user interface on Blur’s website will officially shut down starting November 12, 2026. However, according to information from Wu Blockchain on October 12, the core NFT trading protocol on the blockchain will remain operational, and the BLUR token will continue to retain governance rights over the fee mechanism.
Concurrently, Blur’s NFT lending platform, Blend, will also stop connecting new loans. Sources note that borrowers have until November 12 to repay their debt to avoid falling into default.
Separation Between User Interface and Operational Protocol
The announcement clarifies the distinction between two main components of the product: the user interface (where users interact and track data) and the blockchain protocol (the underlying layer processing transactions). Therefore, discontinuing interface operations does not mean the on-chain protocol is being removed or deactivated.
Based on information from Wu Blockchain, BLUR retains governance rights over the marketplace’s fee collection mechanism. However, the source does not mention whether this mechanism has been activated or if any specific fee rate has been applied. Existing governance rights should therefore be clearly distinguished from an actual implemented revenue stream.
Handling Existing Positions on Blend Instead of Opening New Loans
At the same time as Blur’s interface shutdown, the Blend platform will also completely stop matching new loans. According to the announced plan, Blur plans to roll out an interface tool to assist users in withdrawing assets from Blend, though this feature has not yet been confirmed as operational in practice.
The key focus for open positions is the loan repayment deadline, as this factor is more decisive than short-term token price fluctuations. A clear distinction should be made between the marketplace remaining active on-chain and Blend’s ability to issue new loans, avoiding confusion between the two states.
