World Liberty Financial has issued native USD1 on Canton Network, enabling institutions to use it to settle transactions involving tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). Specifically, USD1 can serve as the “cash leg” for transactions such as derivatives margining, institutional lending, and asset issuance and redemption.
The key advantage of the native issuance is that USD1 can settle simultaneously with tokenized assets within the same transaction, while leveraging Canton’s privacy and permissioning controls.
USD1 has a market capitalization of approximately $4.05 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin according to DeFiLlama. The stablecoin is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, which manages reserves and handles both issuance and redemptions. Reserves consist of short-term U.S. Treasury bills, government money market funds, and U.S. dollar deposits.
World Liberty Financial is a crypto project linked to the Trump family that launched in 2024; USD1 first debuted in March 2025.
Canton describes itself as a public, permissionless blockchain designed for institutional finance, processing and issuing over $9 trillion in tokenized assets each month, with more than $350 billion in on-chain U.S. Treasuries moving across the network daily.
This is a notable move because it shifts the narrative of a stablecoin once viewed as a “Trump family project” toward institutional finance, where liquidity and regulatory compliance determine staying power rather than political or community factors. As a stablecoin begins competing at the RWA infrastructure layer alongside other institutional networks, the benchmark of success shifts toward real-world utility in asset settlement.
