A good prompt is not enough to build a reliable AI system. A model also requires data, tools, history, and evaluation criteria suited to the task.
Context is more than just text
Context can include instructions, retrieved documents, application state, tool outputs, and previous decisions. Context engineering is the process of designing how these components are selected, structured, and updated.
The goal is to reduce ambiguity
A well-designed system does not dump everything into the context. It provides the right information at the right time, with a structure that helps the model distinguish facts from instructions.
