OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of ChatGPT tailored specifically for the financial industry that integrates premium financial data and the GPT-6 Astra model. The product was developed in collaboration with Morgan Stanley and Evercore.

Data Sources & Connectivity

ChatGPT for Financial Services integrates diverse data sources from Daloopa (financial statements, balance sheets), PitchBook (private company data), LSEG News (financial news), and Crunchbase (fundraising activity, M&A). OpenAI hosts and indexes this data ecosystem on its own infrastructure, supporting detailed citations down to specific data tables.

Users are not required to enter into separate contracts with each data provider. In addition, the platform allows direct connections to existing subscriptions at S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody’s via a centralized login mechanism.

Core Capabilities of the Astra Model

ChatGPT for Financial Services is powered by OpenAI’s latest model, GPT-6 Astra, delivering three critical strengths in finance: information retrieval, financial reasoning, and text generation. These capabilities assist banking professionals in normalizing P&Ls, cross-checking figures, and providing detailed breakdowns of EBITDA adjustments, subsequently exporting data into enterprise-grade valuation models or pitchbooks.

At the same time, administrators can publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates from the management portal, ensuring outputs remain consistent in formatting and brand identity standards.

Security and Data Privacy

Built on the ChatGPT Enterprise foundation, the product is equipped with security features such as SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, and role-based access control. By default, enterprise data is not used to train models. Compliance teams can also export workspace logs via the OpenAI Compliance Platform.

The system also supports setting up multiple distinct workspaces to maintain information barriers between deal teams.

Outlook

The launch comes as financial institutions ramp up their adoption of AI; notably, Morgan Stanley has deployed ChatGPT internally since 2023, alongside heavy AI investments from Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan. OpenAI plans to focus first on investment banking and equity research—fields that require the highest data accuracy and domain expertise.
